Computer And Technology Hire For Training In Birmingham

Computer and laptop hire for staff training in Birmingham

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 on October 14 2025. This means that after this date, Microsoft will no longer provide free security updates or assisted support for Windows 10.

Microsoft is encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 11 if they want to continue to receive support and security updates. Software development and upgrades are necessary, and technology will never stand still. Upgrades are vital to the subscription model of software companies. Upgrades do also keep us safe from those in the online technology space whose motivations are not altogether honest or decent.

Staff training is both a cost and an investment.

For business owners it is also true that computer software upgrades come at a cost. And the cost comes at a time when cash flow is tighter than ever in UK small and medium sized enterprises.

It is unfair to single our Microsoft, but as a $3 trillion company, they can survive the mild jibes of this article. A medium sized business, as well as Microsoft licences is also likely to have software for HR, accounts, purchasing, marketing, and client relationship management. That is six software products in a typical company.

I think the case has been made that software upgrades are inevitable and as a consequence, so is the need to train staff as any new software is rolled out.

How to make staff training cost-effective

Whenever the subject of training comes up, I am reminded of this popular quotation.

“What happens if we train our staff and they leave? What happens if we do not train our staff and they stay?!”

Unless your business has a regular and recurring need for computer training, it is unlikely to be cost effective to keep a store of computers to one side just for this purpose. Better to hire in the equipment as and when you need to. Paul Spittle of Tek Hire lists reasons why rental makes more sense than buying:

  • You get exactly the number of machines you need for each training session.
  • As any new software is likely to need more computing power than the previous version, you hire current specification machines.
  • The set-up of the training environment and the machines can be given over to the rental company, so staff are not diverted from their day jobs.
  • Machines in the training room are tested so you know that there will be no issues with reliability to delay the start.
  • Technical staff can be on-hand in case anything untoward happened during the day.
  • The responsibility of packing up also lies with the rental company.

Spittle goes on to say. “Our business is ideally placed to provide computers for training to companies in Birmingham and across The Midlands. We have a facility not far from the NEC, so whether the training is taking place onsite or at an hotel, we can help.” For information and enquiries email info@tek-hire.co.uk or call 0330 230 0835.
